Vietnam stretches over 1,600
kilometres along the eastern coast of the Indo-Chinese Peninsula
and borders of Cambodia, Laos and China. The country's two
main cultivated areas are the Red River Delta (15,000 sq km)
in the north and the Mekong Delta (60,000 sq km) in the south.
Historically, Vietnam
was called Van Lang when the Hung Kings founded it almost
4,000 years ago. These days, Vietnam paints a more contemporary
picture - with its cultured people, beautiful landscapes,
delectable cuisines and booming modernisation.
